Macaron boxes are boxes created with the specific purpose of storing macarons. They keep them fresh for longer and are excellent for when you want to bring them to a party. Macaron boxes are available in several sizes and hold anywhere between 2 to 12 macarons.
Store your macarons in a clean, dry, airtight container. Make sure there is absolutely no moisture in the container because it is certain to transfer to your macarons.
Lay parchment paper on the floor of your container. If the container is very shallow, you may need to fold up the sides accordingly. Steadily place the macarons in a single layer on the parchment paper. If there is enough room, try to place them such that they don’t touch each other just to make sure they don’t stick. Shut the lid tight so there is no room for air to get in. Air is a recipe for soggy macarons.
When you’re done, store the container in a cool, dry place – preferably a dark cupboard away from the heat and sun.
If you don’t plan on chugging down your macarons on the first day itself, it’s best to place them in an airtight container and store them in the fridge where they will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
Before serving, though, you’ll need to take the macarons out 20 minutes beforehand. Macarons taste the best when eaten at room temperature.
