The Metropolitan Museum, popularly known as the Met, is a giant museum that will easily take at least half a day to explore! The Museum’s steps are always crowded with people chilling or having lunch. Remember the Gossip girl scene with Blair and her minions having lunch? This is where it was filmed.
Entry to the museum is by donation. The suggested donation for adults is $25 and for students is $12. The museum also remains closed during the winter months so be sure to check if it’s open before you visit.
The massive Central Park will easily overwhelm you if you don’t plan your route beforehand and carry a map with you. Once you're set with a map, you can rent a bike or strap on your shoes and venture into Central Park for an adventurous day.
Some of the most popular Central Park spots are the Sheep’s Meadow, The Ramble, Belvedere Castle, Strawberry Fields, Bethesda Fountain, and Gapstow Bridge.
If you’re visiting Central Park, you’ll need a minimum of 1 day to explore through 693 acres of huge man-made gardens, forests, meadows, and rolling hillsides – and you’ll love every minute of it!
The stunning memorial is quite a place! You’d think people would walk around with moments of silent contemplation and think about the most horrific American tragedy. Well, it’s quite the opposite. Upon visiting, you’ll see people all around you posing for selfies and taking pictures with their families.
On your way to the memorial, also take a quick stop at St Paul’s, the oldest Manhattan church that still stands. The church was a basecamp for rescue workers post 9/11 for resting and eating.
Also, be sure to book your visit to the memorial beforehand because the queues can be pretty huge.
New York is known as one of, if not the, biggest hubs for stand-up comedy in the world. There is no shortage of clubs or venues, so even if you don't get a ticket in time, there are still plenty more where you can drop in and see a show for cheap. It's a gamble, but you never know who you'll see. A big star may drop in to try new material, or you could see the next biggest star before they even get famous.
