Best Ways to Clean gym mats

1

Wipe with Vinegar

Vinegar is a safe chemical that can squeaky clean surfaces and is effective for killing germs. To disinfect a rubber mat, pour some white synthetic vinegar on the mat, spread it with a sponge, and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. Wash the mat with water and there you have a clean and disinfected rubber mat in 3 minutes. You can also use bleach to disinfect a white rubber mat but avoid using it on dark-colored mats as the bleach may lighten the color of a dark mat.

Use a cleaner with a disinfectant spray

ULINE is an odorless, fast-acting, and easy-to-use disinfectant gym mat cleaning spray. The biggest benefit of using this spray is that you do not have to dilute it with water. Besides the gym mats, you can also use the spray on any exercise equipment after use.

Another option is Ecore at Home Enviro care neutral disinfectant spray. It cleans a variety of surfaces. However, you have to use a mop, sponge, or cloth to ensure your gym mats are clean and bacteria-free.

Use a mop

This one sounds like a no-brainer, but it is one of the easiest ways to clean off your rubber gym mats without getting on the floor and wiping them down. Simply use your household mop to wash them off like your regular floor. You can use a vinegar and water cleaning solution or you can buy a product like Fabuloso or Pine Sol. Mix with water to dilute the product and soak your mop in the mixture. Either of these products will leave your mats smelling fresh and clean.

Use disinfectant wipes

One of the easiest ways to clean rubber gym mats is by simply wiping them clean with disinfectant wipes. You can find wipes at the grocery store from a variety of brands. To make sure you get rid of any germs sticking to your mats, opt for antibacterial wipes like Lysol or Clorox as opposed to normal wet wipes. Use a couple wipes to clean off your mat. Let it dry before using it again. This is a really quick and inexpensive way to keep your equipment clean.

Make your own cleaning solution

If you don’t have the time to run to the grocery store for cleaning supplies, don’t sweat it. You can make your own cleaning solution at home with things you can find in your kitchen. One of the easiest to make contains only vinegar and water. Mix together equal parts of both to create your solution. Use a towel to wipe your mats clean and then let them dry. You can also use dish soap if you dislike the smell of vinegar.
