Best Ways to Help the environment

1

Spread Awareness

Charity begins at home. If you want to help the environment, it is important to start making an effort for helping the environment. Make healthy changes in your life for the greater good such as reusing plastic containers, buy a hybrid car, or conserve water.

When you are doing something and you want the others to join you, spread the word out. Start a campaign, ask for donations, and search for people who are willing to volunteer.

Spread awareness about environmental issues. In the age of the internet, everything is so much easier than it has ever been. If you want people to understand everything in emotional and intellectual dept, make a short video that provokes them and put it on the internet. Share a story that motivates them. Do something to grab their attention to help save the environment.

Reusable shopping bags

Plastic bags are a strict no-no if you’re trying to do your part for the environment. They take years to decompose - we know this since we were in school, don't we?

Instead, stock up some reusable shopping bags and put them everywhere, including your car, your office desk, and other places that you visit regularly. This way, you’ll never forget carrying one and you’ll never need to use a plastic bag.

Keep the Environment Clean

When you go for a trek on the hills or go to a deserted beach always clean up your mess before leaving. If you find any plastic cups, wrappers, or plastic bags lying around, pick them up and simply add them to your trash bag. The trash in such locations that are rarely cleaned can hurt the wildlife or stay there for a long time.

Keep the Environment Clean

You can also join a cleaning community and visit beautiful sites that have been littered to clean up. It can help you stay fit and can be a great recreation if you are looking for a hobby on the weekends.

Plant your own vegetables

Not only is it a lot of fun, but it also brings an element of satisfaction and peace of mind because you know you’re consuming something that you’ve grown yourself. Growing your food organically is sustainable as well as provides nourishment to your soil when you use natural fertilizers.

Ditch disposable bags

Plastic disposable bags end up in landfills when they’re discarded. They take an unbelievably long time to decompose, and worst of all – they can suffocate animals if they consume the plastic bag by mistake or get stuck in them.

Instead, get yourself some reusable bags. Whenever you go out shopping, carry them in your car. This reduces littering and saves the lives of plenty of animals.

It’s also a good idea to stack up some reusable bags in the glove compartment or the trunk of your car so you never have to get a plastic bag just because you forgot to carry your reusable bag with you.

However, as a last resort, for some reason, if you had to use a plastic bag – use it for as long as you can and don’t discard it right away.

Carpool to work or use public transportation

It’s not a secret that cars are no friend of the environment. If you’ve always wanted to incorporate some work-out in your schedule, a lot of people have now started to bike to work. But if you’re worried about going to work all sweaty, consider using public transportation, or walk to work if it’s not that far off.

Carpool to work or use public transportation

If you have a colleague who can pick you up on his way to work, then tag along and discuss the morning news with him as you drive to work. If you have more such colleagues, invite them to join your daily carpool jam, too. The more people you carpool with, the lesser the pollution. It also saves you fuel money when each one of you uses their cars turn by turn.

Save water and electricity

Choose energy-efficient light bulbs – they have a longer life so they’ll also save you some money. Always turn the lights, fans, AC, TV, and other appliances off when you leave the room or aren’t using them.

We waste water without even realizing it. Like when we let the water run while brushing our teeth, or turning the shower on well before we’re ready to hop in.

Conserve water and electricity and you’ll do the environment, and yourself, a big favor.

Use more soft copies

In educational and business settings alike, printing paper is generally an on-going activity that never seems to stop. These stacks of paper are a problem. To preserve our environment, it’s in our best interest to use paper efficiently and only when absolutely necessary.

It has become increasingly common, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, for educational and business organizations to use digital copies. An environment-friendly change indeed. Most teachers and shrewd businessmen will accept that the use of paper should be minimized.

If you have a copy of a document that necessarily needs to be in printed hard copy, at least use both sides of the paper for printing. Just this simple step can reduce paper usage by 50%!
