Best Ways to Paint a room

1

Use Painters Tape

The painter’s tape is the best tool you can use while painting. It helps to paint clean and equal edges and corners without damaging the walls. But they can be used to do much more. If you like stripes, checkered, or any other print that can be easily done, you can use wall tape to create it. A custom wall pattern can turn almost any boring room into something lively, fun, and cozy.

But be careful not to play with the colors and patterns too much or else the room will end up looking mumbo jumbo.

Organize Everything

Before you start painting a room, visualize the finished project. Think of everything you might need. You don’t have to paint all four walls the same color. If you like to have an accent wall, choose a different color for the accent wall. The accent wall can be a plain one-color wall or have a print or image. You can also use wallpaper or mural for the accent wall if you like. Find the right tools and gather all your supplies in one place. On the day you plan to paint put on an old T-shirt (and trousers if required) before you start.

Create a Contrast

A basic rule of making the room look taller is going for a darker color on the floor and a lighter color on ceilings and walls. For example, if you are going for a grey theme, and the carpets will be charcoal or dark grey, apply a lighter shade of grey or off white on the walls. If you like, you can paint the accent wall medium grey and the rest of the walls can be white. Creating a light and dark color contrast highlights everything else that you add to the room such as curtains, furniture, bedsheets, and wall paintings.

Draw Attention

If you have a bookshelf or a piece of furniture that you love, use wall paint to draw attention towards it. If the furniture piece you want to highlight is light, go for darker wall paint. Similarly, if there are brown book shelves with dark-colored pieces and books, you should select a pastel color or go with white.

You draw attention to something in the room when the walls don’t blur out the existence of that piece.
